Things to consider:
- The most dangerous time during any ride is when you transition from a sidewalk, trail, path to a driveway, street or road. This is because vehicles do not care to acknowledge you exist until until you enter their domain on the road. Every time to move from the pedestrian to the vehicle domain, pause just for few seconds; take a lot less time than a hospital trip..
- You look like your standing (or sitting) in place to moving vehicles. If a vehicle looks down the street at you, they have know idea your moving 30mph; assume they don't know your riding an EUC since most have never even seen one.
- If it comes down to saving your EUC and your safety, let the EUC take a hit for team every time. Repairing or replacing your EUC will always be cheaper than medial and physical therapy bills.
- Just because you have "right of way" doesn't mean the SUV is going to respect your authority, not to mention they have a bumper.
Gear below 20Mph: Highly recommend a helmet and wrist guards
- Helmets: Full face helmets are highly recommended, avoid normal bicycle helmets since they are not designed for higher speeds and they types of crashes that EUC riders experience. Downhill helmets are good options to consider, they are normally lighter than motocross and motorcycle helmets; they don't provide the same level of protection unfortunately...
- Wrist Guards: Skateboard wrist guards work great, recommend full/half finger gloves.
- Knee/Shin Guards: motocross knee/shin guards are highly recommended
Gear above 20Mph: Highly recommend wrist guards, motocross or motorcycle helmet and body armor
- Helmets: Motocross and motorcycle full face helmets are highly recommended, downhill helmets are provide the same level of protection recommend at higher.
- Wrist Guards: Skateboard wrist guards work great, recommend full/half finger gloves.
